Leading the frontier of digital finance: The story of Midinero app
Nareia embarked on an endeavor to reimagine and rebuild the Midinero app, a critical financial hub empowering users with a comprehensive suite of tools. This wasn't just an update; it was a full redesign aimed at elevating usability, fortifying security, and future-proofing a platform that already offered a rich set of features.
Building upon the foundations of the previous version, the project team navigated a complex landscape of existing user habits, technical constraints, and evolving security standards, all while ensuring the seamless transition and enhancement of a diverse set of financial functionalities.
The challenges encountered were multifaceted and required strategic thinking and meticulous execution across a wide range of functions:
Transforming performance in a feature-rich ecosystem: Midinero's existing app already offered a wide range of features but required a new foundation for future growth. The challenge was not simply to accelerate the app, but to ensure optimal performance and responsiveness across its various functionalities, delivering a seamless and consistent experience, whether checking balances, initiating a transfer, or managing complex account settings such as spending limits and travel notifications.
‍Designing a solid and scalable foundation for an expanding set of financial tools: The ambition to support a growing user base and seamlessly integrate sophisticated new features—such as in-app cryptocurrency trading, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and personal loan applications—required a robust and scalable solution. The challenge was to design an architecture capable of handling the increasing complexity and data loads associated with these advanced financial services, ensuring the platform could adapt to future innovations without compromising stability or security.
Our team was responsible for redesigning the Midinero app to support an expanding set of financial services without overwhelming users. We restructured the navigation, defined reusable UX patterns, and prioritized consistency across flows—from onboarding and card activation to transfers, payments and loan applications. User testing guided decisions to reduce friction in key journeys, making sure both new and experienced users could complete tasks efficiently.
Generating quality documentation was fundamental throughout the process to facilitate the understanding of the system, its use, maintenance and evolution throughout the life cycle. Given the importance of uptime, we incorporated health monitoring of the different components through diagnostic tools.
We focused on streamlining sensitive operations such as transfers, card blocking, and identity verification. The challenge was to simplify the user flow while reinforcing trust and compliance. This involved designing adaptive authentication mechanisms, improving messaging during critical steps, and minimizing user effort without compromising safety.
Security was treated as a core requirement throughout the project. We aligned the mobile architecture with OWASP MASVS guidelines, applying best practices in data handling, secure storage, app shielding, and threat mitigation.Â
